After searching the Seattle area, this 455 sf sun-filled studio hit the market just blocks from our client’s grandchildren. As they say, location is everything. Although small and in 1940s original condition, our client had a hunch that this would be the perfect place. Before purchasing, we brainstormed options and came up with a plan. Together we were able to transform it into a highly functional one-bedroom unit that has become the ideal home away from home.

Efficiency is the key to small spaces. With smart planning and design, we were able to accommodate a full-size kitchen and eating area, a beautiful bathroom and a small but contained bedroom. Upon entering the apartment, closets line the north wall transitioning into a built-in upholstered bench. Art Consultant Dena Rigby offered inspiring options that help anchor the dining area and create visually diverse and interesting moments throughout.

Adjacent is a small living room, set up for casual conversation and a comfortable wi-fi work space . A fun, recycled flip-flop poof from Design Within Reach offers child-friendly seating across from a concealed kids storage unit. The full-size kitchen offers every amenity with great appliances and lots of cupboards. In the bedroom, a Flou bed is flanked by floor to ceiling closets providing maximum storage. The bathroom remained in the existing space. However, it was completely transformed with new finishes and a large glassed-in shower replaced the old tub.
